Crescent City Sucks

The Church of Steve Jobs

FINALLY! I am now the proud owner of a brand-spanking new Machintosh mini. Small, but sufficent. It's so nice to be back blogging from the privacy and comfort of my own home/computer. I also have password-protected all my stuff to prevent "accidental" data destruction from malicious siblings who will remain unnamed.
I spent the better part of the morning at an educational meeting presented by the ABC concerning sales of alcoholic beverages to minors. The Elk Valley Casino is opening a bar beginning July 1st, thus most of the attendees were Casino employees. Yawn.

you know, you're right, crescent city does suck. i live here/there too. the interesting thing that i find rather unpleasant is that everyone knows everyone elses business. SO if you even post a blog on the internet, and you're from crescent city...everyone finds you! anyways, hello from a girl that attends CR.
(i found this from darius' blog, who was on avanda's, who was on my friend pandalin's... im Sommer (mermaid) myspace.com/sommerliving... k then, night night

For the record, the above deleted post was not mine, so I'm unable to repost it. I also wish I had had a chance to read it, as I'm elated to see that Michael appears to have made yet another friend as he continues his self-prescribed therapy of hurting others in order to make himself feel better.

On a related note, to Ms. Anonymous of CR, if you don't like living in a small town, why don't you leave?

You're obviously old enough to know that one cannot remain anonymous in a small town

And don't fall for the "grass is greener" fallacy that people elsewhere are "better" as they still know everyone's business within their social groups. It's just that there are many, many more groups with less chance of intermingling.

It's only that when living in a small town one's social, work, and family groups tend to overlap which can lead to surprizes like your coworker being your step-cousin, once removed, as happened recently to me.

A place in -- and of -- itself doesn't suck. It's all a question as to how one responds to the disadvantages of living in a small town.

If you're unable to balance the advantages with the disadvantages, you should probably relocate.

As I've posted elsewhere on our sucky site: a place only sucks if you want it to suck, and if you want a place to suck, it probably means that you suck also.

It's called reality.

jesus christ! bob, we all fucking suck. we are humans. we are amazing and beautiful and scared and selfish and bright and aweful. deal! get over the title of this fucking blog! i defy you to spend a month in c.c. and not come out saying the same thing!! everything, and everywhere, has it's pros and cons. del norte county has one of the most spiritually awakening, locally coveted natural resources. and crescent city sucks! you have no situational knowledge to base an arguement from. all small towns very. if you like meth, and crackers, and wal-mart, then dive into c.c. culture. stop the crack pot ramblings and expose your underbelly, like the decient writers in this circle. (i.e. mike, anne, whoever)

Michael, I think you should take up this offer.

Aside from the free food, later in the evening when you find yourself unable to entertain yourself -- and about to drop into that all-to-familar dark space -- you can go down to the Plaza, find some diversion or entertainment, and marvel how great life is in a larger town where one can rely upon others to help pass the time.

Also, last time I was there the Northcoast Journal classifieds listed a few groups doing free anger management seminars which you might wish to consider.

I'd jump on this offer if I were you.

p.s. while there, could you remind your friend that the Australian ranchers used to shoot the aboriginals to "pass the time."

Hurting others is never a good idea, no matter how good it makes you feel.

Maybe michael should change the name of his blog to "Bob gives people who oviously don't care what he thinks unsolicited advice." Yours is not a high horse.

Dear Anonymous / Michael --

Please don't delude yourself into thinking that I care if you don't care about what I write.

I learned of this blog from one of the people Michael deameaned and slandered on the web, which led me to wonder what kind of person would find it necessary to publish his slanderous personal observations of people and his home town.

However, my eyes really lit up when Michael responded to one of my posts by saying he only writes this blog for cathartic reasons (i.e. it makes him feel better).

I believe Michael COULD find a constructive outlet to help purge his head of the demons that plague him, but the bottom line is that he chose -- and continues to choose -- to denigrate myself and everyone else who lives in Crescent City.

It is quite obvious Michael wants this blog to be about -- and glorify -- himself.

And my job, as I feel duty-bound to report, is to keep Michael -- and everyone else -- "honest" so long as they choose to write and support a blog titled crescentcitysucks.

So I will continue to request documentation and clarification of statements made in this blog until such time as it ceases to exist and each and every new posting will have the now familiar comment added:

"Michael said I hurt others because it makes me feel better."

And, it goes without saying, that I now save everything I post so I can repost it should it happen to be deleted.

Have a good day.
